My Personal Mission Statement

My mission statement is a plan of what I want to do with my degree in Psychology. First of, Psychology has many branches of focus as well as employment. The most frequent job taken on with a Psychology degree is counseling psychology, whether it be for children, marriage counselor, etc. Because I want to focus on Forensic Psychology, I don't want to work with just anyone, I want to study the behavior of and work with criminals. Los Angeles has a high rate of crime, one of the highest in the state, and because it is such a large city/ county, it is a great place to start my practice and spread my help. My goal is not to get a high paycheck and give value to my name, I simply want to help people in every way I can. Unfortunately, society isolates "criminals" and disregards that in many cases, what they choose to do is beyond their common sense and understanding. My purpose is to help understand the thoughts, emotion, and behaviors that are common in criminals. I want to be able to help these people better their lives in a positive way. I would also like to conduct research and incorporate and learn more about how criminal behavior can be related to mental disorders and early childhood triggers that can help detect criminal behavior. I am very excited to learn more about forensic psychology and one day be able to be the reason less crime is seen and more people are being cared for.
